The Unity of Armenian Artists has announced that protests in Tavush province against the ongoing demarcation process have intensified. Citizens organized by the opposition are demanding that the demarcation process be stopped. Journalist Ani Gevorgyan and her colleague, operator Janibek Khachatryan, who were documenting the protests, were attacked by unknown individuals. The armed forces intercepted their car and forced Khachatryan to swallow aspirin. The authorities’ use of force to suppress the protests against the demarcation of boundaries is a violation of journalists’ professional activity. We demand a thorough investigation into these incidents and call for respect for human rights and freedom of speech.
