“Lithuania Cracks Down on Influx of Belarusian Migrants, Calls for EU Assistance”

The authorities in Lithuania are taking action to address the ongoing influx of Belarusian migrants, according to a joint statement by Prime Minister Alvin Gaidour and representatives of the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense. In an effort to curb this flow, the Lithuanian authorities plan to increase surveillance of border crossings, including conducting joint checks with neighboring countries. Gaidour emphasized that if these measures do not yield the desired results, further actions will be taken. Additionally, Lithuania has requested the formation of a joint commission with the European Union to evaluate the implementation of the EU-Belarus agreement, which has contributed to the worsening situation.
