The editor and operator of the Oragir.News website have been arrested by authorities on charges of incitement. They have also labeled Ani Nerkararyan, a journalist working for the outlet, as a traitor. Today, residents of Tavush showed their support by staging a peaceful demonstration in the Dsegh section. Protesters closed the road from Yerevan to Tbilisi and demanded justice. However, law enforcement officers, on behalf of the authorities, used force against journalists and representatives of civil society, including those from the ZLM initiative. It is crucial that these acts of violence, violations against journalists and representatives of the ZLM initiative, and infringements on freedom of speech and expression be thoroughly investigated in accordance with human rights protection. This should be done in consideration of the situation in the Republic of Armenia, the rights and freedoms of individuals, and the guidelines set forth by local and international organizations.
