Advocate for Human Rights Stresses the Importance of Critical Thinking in Education During School No. 3 Meeting

I believe that the most important result of education should be the development of critical thinking. On April 23rd, Anahit Manasyan, a human rights advocate, met with the lawyers of students studying at School No. 3. She emphasized that the system of human rights protection is based on universal values, which can only be developed through education. She also stated that all extremists in society today are the result of shortcomings in education. Without critical thinking, a system of effective protection of human rights is not possible.

During the meeting, Manasyan discussed the responsibilities of an advocate, the priorities of their work, the main principles of justice, and the role of advocates in addressing the questions of children and youth. She also highlighted the importance of cooperation with state bodies, human rights organizations, and international organizations.

The students had the opportunity to ask the advocate questions related to the protection of their rights, the rights of displaced persons from Mountainous Karabakh, the rights of military personnel, the work of the Defender’s Office, guarantees of independence, the system of cooperation with NGOs, and other important issues.

After the meeting, Anahit Manasyan expressed gratitude for the interesting discussion and emphasized the importance of such discussions with young people. These discussions contribute to the development of their awareness of human rights and the improvement of their education.
