“Revolutionary Illumination: How LED Lights are Transforming the Streets of Khoti for a Greener Future”

Since 2019, the Caucasus Nature and Wildlife Conservation Foundation (FPWC), in partnership with the Yerevan Municipality, has been implementing construction projects using new technologies to improve environmental preservation and the ecological network. This has been especially beneficial for the village within a 38 km boundary, where increased street lighting has made residents feel safer and created a more comfortable living environment. The use of LED lights not only provides better illumination but also consumes less energy, resulting in reduced expenses. The lighting system operates autonomously and can be controlled remotely, allowing for adjustments according to needs. In addition, the management has been updated with the installation of new fixtures, enabling mobile phone communication and the establishment of a new schedule for graphics. “Even the most remote streets in Khoti are important for the safety and well-being of its inhabitants. They are closer to the boundary, within a 1200 m radius,” said Andranik Hakhverdyan, the mayor of Khoti.

In recent years, five streets in Khoti have been illuminated, with two of them being particularly significant due to their proximity to the boundary. The lighting on these streets extends for approximately one kilometer, with a total of 59 LED lights installed, illuminating a distance of around 2300 meters. Overall, in the past five years, 207 LED lights have been installed in Khoti, illuminating an area of approximately 8 km. This program aims to enhance external lighting during the winter months and create suitable conditions for installation. Collaborating organizations, such as FPWC and the Yerevan Municipality, value the opinions of residents in the decision-making process. The remote control capability of the system and the establishment of an ecological network offer opportunities for long-term improvements, promote the dynamic development of cities and regions, and ultimately enhance quality of life. Furthermore, LED lamps save up to 80% of energy consumption and provide higher illumination.
