“Armenian Education Conference Sets the Stage for Reforms and Enhances Teacher Professionalism”

With the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports and the National Center for Excellence in Education and New Initiatives, the first phase of the “Education as a Government Priority” conference was held on June 1. More than 600 teachers from 46 schools in Armenia participated in the conference.

According to the Ministry, the event was attended by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, Araik Harutyunyan, the Head of the Office of the Minister Araksia Sujyan, the Director of the Khachatur Abovyan Armenian State Pedagogical University, and the Rector of the St. Hovhannes Ghazarian Center for National Excellence in Education, Artashes Torosyan.

The aim of the conference was to promote national awareness of public education reforms and innovations, improve the professional capacity of teachers, and enhance the development of the education system. Minister Araik Harutyunyan said, “Our teachers have made interesting efforts, implementing creative programs. Unfortunately, we did not have the opportunity to discuss and discuss these experiences in one place. The conference can become such a platform. I am glad for your great interest and participation. This signifies that the demand for discussions and cooperation among our teaching staff is high.”

According to the Ministry, the conference was not accidental, as it coincided with International Children’s Day on June 1. The next phase of the conference will take place in the first days of October and will be dedicated to the methods used in child protection and discussions on current educational issues.

The conference aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of education reforms in schools and to involve teachers in improving the quality of education. “The goal of the national measurement of the education system started with caution, which showed one of the toughest problems in our educational system, specific, and age-oriented. I am glad that you have achieved a 57% improvement in their abilities, which is not yet enough. It is necessary for them to fully understand, develop and understand their knowledge and skills as achievements in their situation and apply them. It is necessary that children have value-based orientations that will allow them to determine their attitudes and behave in a positive and correct manner,” said Artashes Torosyan.

In his speech, Artashes Torosyan emphasized the importance of the conference in fostering cooperation and understanding between teachers and the confidence and environment for discussing the results of the measures taken. “This is a very important and mainly the key component of our work, that children are in the foundation of our work,” said Artashes Torosyan, confirming the results of the survey conducted during the conference and expressing hope for the further development of the achievements and cooperation of the teaching staff.

In addition to the speeches, workshops were also organized as part of the conference, where about 60 teachers presented their works on various themes, such as integrating national education with art and sport, the role of education in government development, education as a tool for demographic growth, and the challenges and perspectives of education in the era of globalization.
