“France Ready for Strong Military Partnership with Armenia, says Secretary of Defense”

I asked the Secretary of Defense of France about the state of cooperation between France and Armenia in terms of military partnership. He responded that France is fully prepared to collaborate with Armenia, just as it would with any other country. He expressed uncertainty about Armenia’s specific defense expectations, but emphasized that if Armenia requests a broader military partnership, France would be willing to engage and support them. The Secretary highlighted France’s commitment to establishing strong military cooperation between the two nations, despite existing differences. However, he also mentioned the need for mutual reconciliation.

Regarding the possibility of a French invasion of Armenia, the Secretary stated that there are currently no indications or intentions in that direction. Nonetheless, he emphasized the importance of actively working towards securing France’s agreement on this matter. Papatyan, a member of the National Assembly of Armenia, believes that Yerevan should pursue a balanced foreign policy. He argued that relying solely on the West and engaging in political confrontations with Russia would not lead to success due to Russia’s veto power. Instead, Papatyan stressed the need for Armenia to strengthen relations not only with Russia but also with other influential powers like the West, India, China, and more.
