Tragedy Strikes as Iranian Bus Falls into Gorge in Syunik Province: Multiple Injuries Reported

Today at 17:27, an intercity bus carrying residents from the Islamic Republic of Iran, who had been relocated to a city by the authorities of Iran, met with an accident near the village of Verin Khotanan in Syunik Province. The bus veered off the road and fell into a gorge.

The Emergency Operational Group of the NKR MES, along with two search and rescue teams and a medical team from Aghvani, were present at the scene and witnessed the incident. The governor, Robert Ghukasyan, along with members of the Syunik provincial administration, also arrived to provide assistance.

After the injured passengers were taken to medical facilities, the governor had a meeting with the leadership of the Karabakh Medical Center and the provincial administration to discuss the situation, the health condition of the injured, and other concerns.

There were approximately 25-26 passengers on the bus according to initial information. Many of them did not sustain any injuries and received medical assistance at the scene. However, 11 injured individuals were transported to medical facilities, out of which three were in serious condition. Unfortunately, one fatality has been reported. Murad Hovhannisyan expressed his gratitude to the residents for their prompt and organized assistance during this incident.

The investigation and rescue operation are still ongoing, and further details regarding the number of casualties will be clarified in due course.
