Russian State Duma to Discuss New Immigration Schedule, Changes Expected Soon

The schedule for the new immigration regime in Russia will be discussed at the next meeting of the Russian State Duma in Petdoma, according to RIA Novosti. Fyodor Zatulin, deputy head of the State Duma committee on CIS affairs, stated that the schedule will be given priority consideration. The Petdoma committee will discuss the schedule on May 6, and it will then be presented to the appropriate authority for approval and the first hearing. Petdoma has proposed a plan that aims to introduce a new immigration regime for migrants, taking into account the interests of Moscow residents based on their suggestions. Under this regime, approved migrants will not be allowed to change their place of residence or stay in Russia without permission from the authorities. Additionally, they will not be allowed to leave the territory of the Russian Federation where they reside, transport goods, or become citizens. Furthermore, the time limit for foreign nationals to stay in Russia will be reduced to 90 days.
