The Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi recently made a declaration urging the United States to refrain from using Taiwan as a means to destabilize China and to cease selling weapons to the island. During a meeting with US National Security Advisor Antony Blinken, Wang Yi emphasized China’s demand for the US to avoid engaging in provocative actions, refraining from sending misleading signals to pro-“Taiwan independence” groups, and not instrumentalizing Taiwan to undermine Chinese interests. Wang Yi emphasized that such actions should be avoided in order to ensure the preservation of peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.
