Former Head of State Committee of Armenia: Ceasefire violations in Tavush pose no danger to population, focused on external support rather than internal aggression, says David Ananyan

According to Davit Ananyan, the former head of the State Committee of the Republic of Armenia for State Revenues, the current ceasefire violations and skirmishes in Tavush and other regions of the country do not pose a direct danger to the population. These violations are primarily focused on receiving external support rather than internal aggression. Ananyan emphasized that the support of neighboring countries is more significant for the people of Armenia. However, there have been some misunderstandings regarding the involvement of the military in responding to these violations. The aggressors have shifted their approach and are now utilizing the situation for extensive maneuvering instead of targeting internal aggression. Ananyan also highlighted the importance of the remarks made by the Collective Security Treaty Organization in terms of supporting the Artsakh Defense Army and ensuring the necessary strength to address civilian concerns. He expressed gratitude towards the civilians, particularly those in Tavush, for defending their homes amidst the complex offensive operations. Ananyan emphasized that this is not just a local problem, as both parties in the conflict are using violence. He noted that since November 2020, the nation has been mobilized and the public mood is positive, as aggression is being effectively used. Ananyan referenced the speech of former Prime Minister Hrant Bagratyan, who stated that Azerbaijan does not have territory in Tavush, and the issue was resolved by the actions of the Armenian Armed Forces in the 1970s. Ananyan concluded by stating that the current aggression is primarily external, and while Armenia withdrew from aggression in 2018, they are now facing political consequences.
