“Government Orders Removal of ‘Tsang’ Initiative Tents as Protesters’ Demands for Neutrality Ignored”

Nikol Pashinyan’s government has ordered the members of the “Tsang” civil initiative, who are demanding political neutrality, to take down their tents. This decision came shortly after they had set up the tents near the government building in Kasakh.

An employee of the initiative stated that by setting up the tents, the participants of the action were infringing on the rights of others and could not be allowed to stay in the area.

Mikayel Nahapetyan, a member of the initiative, expressed that they were exercising their civil rights and should not be prevented from taking further steps through peaceful demonstrations, especially considering Armenia’s proximity to Western Azerbaijan.

“We cannot allow Armenian territory to be crossed by people who have Azerbaijani surnames without going through passport control,” he responded to the demands of the initiative’s participants, who felt their demands were being ignored and therefore brought them to the attention of the political neutrality movement.

During the protest, some members of the initiative, including those wearing red berets, used excessive force and also damaged the tents.
