“Prominent Armenian Spiritual Leader Arrested for Organizing Protests Against Government: Suppression of Opposition Rises”

The leader of the Odzun community, Father Harutyun Bagratuny, who is also the spiritual leader of the Armenian Apostolic Church, has been arrested for his involvement in organizing protests against the government. The arrest has been announced by the Ministry of Defense, who also stated that the circulating information about the protests is false.

There has been no confirmation from the court regarding the lawsuit against the government, which is worth noting. If such documents were indeed present, they would have been published by the prime minister himself or one of his associates, as has been the case in recent years. Additionally, independent reporting on the situation has been lacking, making it unclear whether the protests have garnered support from other religious leaders or activists, and whether their activities are allowed within the framework of public administration.

Given the circulated information, it is difficult to accurately assess the situation. However, it is evident that the government is attempting to suppress any form of opposition, even by arresting influential religious figures if necessary.
