“Incarcerated Former Head of Government, Levon Kocharyan, Believes Country’s Leaders Are Capable of More Amid Corruption Scandals”

Levon Kocharyan, during a conversation with journalists after leaving the CCH, expressed his belief that the current head of government in their country is capable of achieving more. He mentioned the prevalence of corruption and the number of individuals, particularly in the construction sector, who have been arrested. Kocharyan, who himself has been detained, expressed hope for the eventual freedom of all those implicated. When questioned about his own release from custody, he declined to comment, stating that he would now focus on the remaining aspects of his situation. Kocharyan did mention that his detention conditions were different from others and that there was no valid reason for his continued imprisonment. Regarding the prosecution’s offer of a mandate, he indicated that he would wait for universal acceptance and emphasized that the truth would ultimately prevail. Arman Charchyan, the former chairman of the “Armenia” bloc, has been given the mandate to represent Kocharyan in court according to the decision of the CCH. In addition, other individuals included in the list of political prisoners have also submitted applications to the CCH.
