Russian Embassy in Turkey Raises Concerns Over Turkish Airlines Denying Boarding to Russian Passengers heading to Latin America

The Russian embassy in Turkey has reached out to Turkish Airlines seeking clarification regarding their refusal to allow Russian passengers traveling to Latin American countries to board. According to RBK, Irina Kasimova, the Russian Consul General in Ankara, revealed that the embassy had not been approached for assistance in facilitating cooperation. The embassy’s statement highlighted that Turkish Airlines employees have repeatedly denied boarding to Russian citizens in transit through Istanbul for routine flights to countries such as Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico. The statement emphasized the need for communication between the airline and Russian foreign missions to resolve the issue. Turkish Airlines, on the other hand, asserted their compliance with the rules of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the requirements of the destination countries. They also stated that they had provided the necessary information in English and Russian on their official website. However, the embassy insisted on further communication, citing unspecified reasons.
