“Boca Raton Woman’s Lavish Lifestyle Funded by $8.5 Million Embezzlement Scandal Comes to Court, Miami Herald Reports”

The Miami Herald has reported that a woman accused of embezzling over $8.5 million from her employer to fund her lavish lifestyle will have her case heard in court. The 60-year-old resident of Boca Raton, Florida, was found guilty of embezzlement over a number of years, causing significant harm to her employer and allegedly attempting to defend herself with claims of previous corruption allegations. According to the US District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, the woman, who was employed as a manager and executive assistant in a Sancte Petra, Florida company, used the company’s credit cards for personal expenses, including plastic surgery and other extravagant purchases. She reportedly spent over $172,000 on leisure trips and more than $600,000 at the Saks Fifth Avenue store in New York’s Fifth Avenue and Midtown sections. Additionally, she spent over $238,000 on sports events, such as tickets to the Kentucky Derby, the Masters, and the US Open. Previously, the woman received a prison sentence of three years, followed by three years of supervised release, and was ordered to pay over $8.6 million in restitution.
