“Armenian Residential Areas Shelled by Azerbaijan: Spokesperson Demands Action for Security and Stability”

In the past 2-3 days, the situation on the border has escalated, and several Armenian residential areas have been shelled by Azerbaijan. Today, on April 8, Tigran Abrahamyan, the spokesperson for the “I Have Honor” alliance, stated during a briefing with journalists that they are waiting for action not only in terms of formal statements and their registration in international bodies but also in terms of the protection of our region’s security and stability. According to him, their steps should be much more active in this situation.

“We are waiting for action not only in terms of formal statements and their registration in international bodies but mostly for them to also be implemented in political actions,” he said.

Tigran Abrahamyan noted that Azerbaijan has been carrying out active military operations in the recent period, as well as intelligence operations in Armenia. It is clear why Azerbaijan is doing this.

“It is difficult to say how it will develop in the next stage, but it is obvious that this process and Azerbaijan’s provocation continue to threaten everyone’s security and, most importantly, will ignite these fires and wars one day,” he said.

The temporary spokesperson believes that the possibility of large-scale military operations at this time is not as high as it cannot be ruled out with certain provocations.

Abrahamyan stated that those constructions, complexes, and countries that represent a threat to the security and stability provided by Armenia in the South Caucasus must be considered as aggressive. This applies to the US, the EU, and Russia.

“For our society, these steps and proposals should be accessible, visible, and clearly stated, which implies a clear position and acceptance of the rights of Armenia’s authorities or individuals,” said the spokesperson.

Tigran Abrahamyan also said, “The problem that is actually accumulating in Armenia’s politics and government is connected with the fight against terrorism and aggression in the South, as well as the rights of citizens or government officials. These steps and efforts must be independent and directed towards overcoming any problems related to the Republic of Armenia.”

It should be noted that the President of the European Council, Maria Peichinovich-Burić, is expected to arrive in Yerevan. High-level meetings are expected, including with the RA Prime Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.

The “I Have Honor” alliance is holding a protest, demanding the freedom of the captives in Artsakh. Participants include the Deputy Chairman of the NA, Armen Ashotyan, political expert Narek Malian, former Minister of Vanadzor Mamikon Aslanyan, and the leaders of the “My Step” movement, Vazgen Sargsyan and Narek Sargsyan, as well as the head of the Karabakh government, Bakuvam Nazaryan.
