“Lawyer Exposes Tensions in Adrianople: Opposition Exploiting Political Turmoil for Gain”

The political situation in Adrianople has intensified, with lawyer Siranush Sahakyan stating during a discussion at the AHA that the opposition is using this issue for political gain. Sahakyan presented statistics indicating a number of cases of violence recorded between November 10, 2020, and September 19-20, 2023. She also stated that 210 individuals have returned to Adrianople, with 23 residents having access to the “Mugam” organization. Furthermore, Sahakyan mentioned that five people, including two minors, have remained in the conflict zone and are being targeted due to their age and involvement in the first Karabakh war. Additionally, she highlighted the cases of Vaghif Khachatryan, a repatriated individual, and the eight former heads of Karabakh. Sahakyan emphasized that there are 80 cases of forced disappearance, where soldiers were arrested without public complaints and vanished without a trace. She concluded by noting the unique situation where Armenian authorities have released defendants to protect their people from Adrianople, citing the relocation and liberation of a criminal in Shushi as an example.
