“Main Judicial Body Launches Investigation into Nationalization Attempt by ‘Union of Armenian Writers’ and ‘Union of Armenian Artists'”

The main judicial body has initiated an investigation into the case involving the “Union of Armenian Writers” and the “Union of Armenian Artists” for their alleged attempt to nationalize public properties. According to a statement released by the main judicial body, the administrative court in Yerevan reviewed an application to protect the rights of state assets, specifically addressing properties located at 16 and 16/1 Avovyan Street, Tsaghkadzor city, Orbely brothers, 1 address in Yerevan, and the “Writer’s House” in the town of Sevan by the Black Lake. The investigation revealed that the ownership rights registered by the “Union of Armenian Writers” for the address at Baghramyan 3 in Yerevan were invalid due to incomplete fulfillment of personal act requirements. It was also discovered that prior to the establishment of the “Union of Armenian Writers” on June 4, 1993, all property, possessions, artworks, and assets within the territory of Armenia belonged to the Republic of Armenia in accordance with the Law on the State Property of the Republic of Armenia. As a result, the registration of ownership rights by the “Union of Armenian Writers” and the subsequent withdrawal from state jurisdiction on September 4, 1993, were deemed illegal. These violations led to the conclusion that criminal law had been violated, prompting the filing of a lawsuit to review the legality of the ownership rights registration based on personal acts. Additionally, the investigation looked into the territory of Sevan, particularly the “Writer’s House” spanning an area of 2403.9 square meters.
