“Lufthansa Technik Snaps Up German Airbus A340-300 for Spare Parts, Heads to Spain”

German airline “Airbus A340-300” aircraft has been dismantled and sold as spare parts, according to the report by “Der Spiegel” magazine. Lufthansa Technik, a leading airline services provider, has recently signed a contract to purchase the aircraft and plans to dismantle it and sell the spare parts individually. The process of dismantling will take place in Spain, where Lufthansa Technik has a branch.

The Airbus A340-300 has been in operation for over 20 years and is known for its well-maintained engines. Along with its standard features, the aircraft also includes a conference room, lounge, workspace, a business class cabin with separate compartments for the press, and economy class seats reserved for journalists.

According to “Der Spiegel,” the commercial operation of the aircraft is expected to commence in 2023, following multiple delays caused by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In the past, the aircraft has been used by prominent figures such as Angela Merkel, the former Chancellor of Germany, former Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, former President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

Meanwhile, in a separate news update, it has been reported that Armenia’s own news outlet, NEWS.am, will provide further details regarding the dismantling and sale of the Airbus A340-300 aircraft.
