“Terian Cultural Center’s “My Way” Project Receives Funding from International Fund for Cultural Diversity”

The “My Way” project of the Terian Cultural Center has received funding from the International Fund for Cultural Diversity (IFCD). From February 27 to March 1, the 17th meeting of the IFCD’s Intergovernmental Committee on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions is taking place in the UNESCO headquarters in Paris. Svetlana Sahakyan, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Armenia, is representing Armenia at the meeting as a member of the committee during the current period of the Armenian Presidency of the IFCD. The meeting also included the presentation of proposals submitted by the IFCD.

Armenia presented two proposals for the years 2023-2024, one of which is related to the establishment of a joint platform for theatrical music organizations named after Hovhannes Tumanyan, the national poet of Armenia. The other proposal is focused on the development of innovative approaches in the artistic production of individuals with special needs at the Terian Cultural Center. Each year, the IFCD receives proposals from approximately 80 national and international non-profit organizations and institutions. These proposals are submitted online and reviewed by experts in the field of cultural studies.

The proposals submitted by Armenia were approved by the expert team of the IFCD, resulting in funding for the “My Way” project of the Terian Cultural Center in 2024, along with 12 other international projects. The project aims to not only develop the artistic potential of individuals with special needs in various art forms such as painting, printing, writing, and crafts but also to promote their social integration and participation in the cultural life of society. The project will run for a duration of 17 months and will be funded with $99,516 from the International Fund for Cultural Diversity.

It is worth noting that these proposals were submitted in collaboration with the National Committee of UNESCO in Armenia. This news comes from Armenia – NEWS.am.
