“French Foreign Minister Le Drian Affirms Support for Armenia-France Friendship at Xan-En-Provence Exhibition”
French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian met with Armenian Ambassador to France, Hasmik Tolmajian, during his visit to Xan-En-Provence. The meeting was attended by Armenian representatives, including Hovhannes Ghevorgyan, the representative of Mountainous Karabakh in France, and Ara Mkrtchyan, the head of the Armenian community in Marseille.
After the meeting, Ambassador Tolmajian and Mayor Jean-Claude Gaudin attended an exhibition at the “Tapisseries” gallery in Xan-En-Provence. The exhibition showcased the works of renowned French-Armenian artist Tros Rastkelenyan, as well as representatives of the Armenian community, journalists, and French-Armenian community representatives.
Ambassador Tolmajian expressed her gratitude to Mayor Gaudin for his support of Armenian-French friendship and the attention given to promoting cultural exchanges. She also highlighted the ongoing efforts of the Armenian community to organize similar exhibitions of French-Armenian artists’ works.
Tolmajian praised the cooperation with the city of Xan-En-Provence, the European Union, the French province, and the city administration for hosting the exhibition in the historical part of the city.
Minister Le Drian, who has visited Armenia since 2021, expressed his intention to continue supporting the development of relations between the Republic of Armenia and Xan-En-Provence. He also emphasized the importance of close cooperation with the city administration and the historical district.
The meetings took place amidst the recent escalation between Azerbaijan and Mountainous Karabakh, which led to a humanitarian crisis and large-scale military operations by the Republic of Armenia.
