“Israel’s Defense Minister Exposes Iran’s Destabilizing Influence in the Middle East: Urges Support for Opposition Groups in Yemen”

In a recent security briefing by the SDF, the situation in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden was discussed extensively. Israel’s Defense Minister, Gilad Erdan, highlighted the significance of the Middle East’s geopolitical structure in contributing to destabilization in the Eastern Mediterranean. He mentioned Iran’s involvement in financing, arming, training, and leading various terrorist groups, such as Hezbollah in Lebanon, in addition to other groups in Syria, Iraq, and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad in Gaza.

According to reports, eight out of fifteen members of the Security Briefing have expressed the need for special support and closed consultations with opposition groups involved in the Yemen conflict. The objective is to evaluate the current situation and discuss potential measures. This information was shared by Today in Israel.

Israel’s response to these concerns focuses on the allegation that Iran is providing financial, military, and training support to the Houthi conflict in Yemen.

In response to questions about governance and potential changes, US representative Chris Lund emphasized that the United States is not seeking confrontation with Tehran. He highlighted that Iran should have the freedom to make its own choices based on its political policies and should seek external support, particularly in regards to its nuclear issue, through meaningful consultations.

Lund added, “Iran’s strategic approach can either facilitate cooperation or make it difficult to ensure the smooth control of commercial routes passing through the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.”
