“Japan Boosts Defense Budget by 16% and Expands Lethal Weapon Arsenal, Allowing for Export to US and Ukraine”

The Japanese government has announced its intention to increase military spending by 16% next year and strengthen the country’s defense capabilities by expanding its arsenal of lethal weapons, according to the Armenian press agency (AR).

The new defense budget also allows for the export of Japanese-made weapons and their components to countries that have defense agreements with Japan, including the United States. It is expected that Japan’s defense technology, including its “fighter jets”, could also be sent to Ukraine.

The limitation on the export of lethal weapons by Japan was imposed following the country’s technological and military aggression in the past, making it possible for the development of military equipment and weapons.

The defense budget for 2024, starting in March, is 7.95 trillion yen ($56 billion), with 112.7 trillion yen ($794 billion) allocated to a part of the public budget.

This budget also includes the expected purchase of F-35 fighters and other American weapons to strengthen Japanese military capabilities. Japan intends to spend 43 trillion yen ($300 billion) by 2027 to maintain its military strength.

The budget will increase military expenditures for the 12th consecutive year. In the previous year, the government allocated 6.8 trillion yen ($48 billion) to the defense of the country.
