“Iceland Takes Action: Cleaning Up Volcanic Ash Begins in Southeast Region”

Iceland has started cleaning up volcanic ash in the country’s southeast, as reported by Reuters. The cleanup efforts come after the eruption of the Reykjavik volcano in northeastern Iceland, which led to the evacuation of around 4,000 residents from the town of Grindavik and the closure of the Blue Lagoon hot springs. An aviation source has warned about the cleanup operations taking place in Grindavik, located southeast of Reykjavik. It has been reported that the Keflavik International Airport near Reykjavik is currently closed.

The video footage shows the aftermath of the volcanic eruption. The Icelandic meteorological office has stated that seismic activity indicates movement of magma towards the southeast, potentially reaching Grindavik. Experts have noted that volcanic ash is being scattered at a rate of 100-200 meters per minute.
