“Belgium’s Prime Minister Condemns Violence in Gaza, Calls for Protection of Innocent Lives”

Belgium’s Prime Minister Alexander De Croo spoke with Israeli President Isaac Herzog after the military operations resumed in Gaza. De Croo emphasized the importance of protecting peaceful residents in the region and stated that there should be no more victims. The week-long truce between Israel and Hamas came to an end without an agreement on the continuation of the ceasefire. De Croo expressed his views during his attendance at the COP28 climate summit in Dubai, where he also reiterated Israel’s right to defend itself against terrorist attacks. The Foreign Ministry of Israel had previously summoned the ambassadors of Belgium and Spain to discuss their prime ministers’ statements at the “Rafahi” checkpoint last week.
