Armenia Urges Azerbaijan to Embrace Peace and Reject War in Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict, President Mirzoyan Tells NATO Parliamentary Assembly

Armenia is actively preparing for negotiations, and in order for progress to be made, it is crucial for Azerbaijan to reject the option of war and instead focus on finalizing the peace agreement. These proposals were put forward by Ararat Mirzoyan, the President of Armenia’s National Assembly, during the 30th session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. Mirzoyan expressed gratitude for the opportunity to address this esteemed organization, recognizing NATO’s role in promoting peace and stability worldwide through its prompt actions and effective measures. He emphasized that despite ongoing conflicts and violations of international law in various parts of the world, NATO’s response has not been as effective as desired. The armed conflict in the Nagorno-Karabakh region, which has roots in existing problems, has further highlighted the need for better coordination and preparedness by NATO and its member states.

Mirzoyan highlighted that Armenia, as a NATO member, has been committed to enhancing security and fostering closer ties with the organization. The Armenian government has put forth considerable effort to strengthen cooperation and partnership with NATO, particularly in the realm of security enhancement and peacekeeping. This approach has been widely recognized and endorsed, as it aligns with the core principles of promoting global security and peace.

Turning to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Mirzoyan expressed optimism that a new phase of peace could be achieved. However, this necessitates a change in Azerbaijan’s policy. The peace agreement must be embraced, and efforts from international mediators need to be intensified. Mirzoyan extended his appreciation to the international community and the mediators for their ongoing efforts and contributions in resolving this long-standing conflict.

In conclusion, Armenia’s commitment to preparing for negotiations and promoting a peaceful resolution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict remains strong. The country emphasizes the need for Azerbaijan to reject the option of war and instead focus on finalizing the peace agreement. International mediators play a crucial role in facilitating this process, and their efforts should be supported and intensified. With concerted actions and commitments from all parties involved, a new phase of peace and stability in the region can be achieved.
