President Khachatryan Announces Energy Independence and Diversification: Armenia Breaks Away from Single Gas Supplier
During a press conference titled “The Current Situation and Perspectives of Energy Independence and Security of Armenia,” held on November 28, President Vahagn Khachatryan made a significant announcement regarding the country’s energy situation. He emphasized the risks associated with relying solely on one gas supplier and stressed the importance of diversification in the field. Khachatryan expressed discontent with the International Energy Agency’s (IEA) support for the continuation of this current system, calling for accelerated changes in Armenia’s energy balance. Currently, Armenia receives gas from both Russia and Iran, with Iran also supplying electricity to the country.
