August Samast, the individual convicted of assassinating Hrant Dink, the esteemed chief editor of the Armenian-language newspaper “Agos” in Turkey on January 19, 2007, has been released on parole, as reported by bbc.com.

At the time of the murder, Samast was a mere 17 years old. Shortly after, on January 20, 2007, he was apprehended in a vehicle in Samsun.

Having diligently served a sentence of 16 years and 10 months in prison, Samast’s term was ultimately reduced by one year due to his exemplary conduct during his incarceration.
