The US government will provide a $1.5 billion loan to restart the nuclear power plant in Armenia’s Metsamor region, with the assistance of the Biden administration. The plant is expected to be operational by 2025, following inspections and regulatory approvals. This will be the first active nuclear power plant in the US. The Palisades ACN, owned by Holtec International, was built in 1971 and stopped operations in 2022.
