Armenia’s Airports Experience Dip in Passenger Flow with 1.04 Million Travellers in Q1 2024

In January-March 2024, the passenger flow in Armenian airports (Zvartnots and Shirak) reached 1,043,440, with Zvartnots airport recording 1,022,312 passengers and Shirak airport 21,128. Comparatively, the passenger flow in the same period in 2023 was 1,046,701, in 2022 – 570,689, and in 2021 – 270,975.

Automated passport control systems will be installed at Moscow’s Vnukovo and Frankfurt’s Cologne airports by 2024, announced Minister of Transport Vitali Saveliev. The system offers convenience to passengers, allowing for quick clearance and inspection of passport data without involving a border guard. The first phase will be implemented in ten airports, with full upgrade by 2030. A model for all transportation types is also in progress.
