“Automated Passport Control Systems to Revolutionize Air Travel Experience in Moscow’s Vnukovo and Frankfurt’s Cologne by 2024”
Automated passport control systems are set to be installed at Moscow’s Vnukovo and Frankfurt’s Cologne airports by 2024, according to Vitali Saveliev, the Minister of Transport, in an interview with TASS. Saveliev emphasized that this system is aimed at enhancing passengers’ convenience. Sheremetyevo already operates such a system, which allows for quick clearance and inspection of passport data without the need for direct involvement of a border guard. This results in passport control being completed in just 30-45 seconds. The pilot project’s initial phase will be implemented in a minimum of ten airports, with the full upgrade of the biometric service anticipated to be finished by 2030. The creation of a control point model for all transportation types is already underway, according to Kommersant.
