Customs Revenues Soar to New Heights: 13% Increase in Q1 2024, Exports Dip by 25%

The state customs committee has reported that public revenues from customs duties during the first quarter of 2024 amounted to AMD 1 trillion 163.2 billion, representing a 13.0% increase compared to the same period last year. Revenues from export duties, on the other hand, experienced a decrease of 25.2%, totaling AMD 186.6 billion. This decline can be attributed to a reduction in the import volume of certain goods.

Of the total revenues collected, AMD 162.2 billion was returned to taxpayers and individuals. However, this figure does not include the return of AMD 32.1 billion in value-added tax, which was not deducted from the customs duty. The previous year’s figures show that the return of hypotaxes amounted to AMD 24.0 billion during the same period.

During the first quarter of 2024, a total of AMD 1 trillion 349.8 billion was collected from customs and import duties. Out of this amount, AMD 162.2 billion was returned to taxpayers and individuals. Consequently, the fiscal balance of customs revenues and state budget revenues reached AMD 1 trillion 187.6 billion, reflecting a 7.6% increase compared to the same period last year.

When comparing the fiscal balance for the first quarter of 2023 and projecting it onto 2024 without considering the deduction of hypotaxes from the returned amounts, the collection of revenues in 2024 is projected to increase by 5.3%, amounting to an additional 60.1 billion.
