Armenia’s Minister of Justice Meets with President of the International Criminal Court, Reinforces Commitment to Fight International Crimes

Gregor Minasyan, the Minister of Justice of Armenia, recently met with Tomoko Akane, the President of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands. During their meeting, Minasyan highlighted the fact that Armenia ratified the Rome Statute of the ICC on October 3, 2023, which will come into effect on February 1, 2024. This ratification serves as a clear indication of Armenia’s commitment to combatting international crimes that jeopardize peace and security. Moreover, by ratifying the statute, Armenia recognizes the jurisdiction of the ICC, aligning itself with the principles outlined in the Rome Statute.

Minasyan further emphasized Armenia’s dedication to effectively implementing the Rome Statute, their capacity to investigate and prosecute individuals accountable for international crimes, and their willingness to collaborate with the ICC. On the other hand, Tomoko Akane, the President of the ICC, commended Armenia for joining the ICC and expressed their readiness to assist Armenia in fulfilling its obligations under the Rome Statute.
