Armenia Considers Legal Actions Against Russia for Violating CSTO Obligations, Expert Warns of Possible Destabilization

The authorities of the Republic of Armenia are considering legal measures against Russia for violating its obligations as a member of the CSTO, according to political analyst Vigen Hakobyan. While Russia can claim to have fulfilled its obligations, it is unclear why they have not done so yet. Hakobyan highlighted the shift in Armenia’s foreign policy and the discrepancy in Russia’s approach, which is not in line with that of an allied country. He also warned that Russia may attempt to take advantage of Armenia’s internal political situation to destabilize the country. Hakobyan further explained that the United States is interested in the situation, not for political gain, but due to the potential for serious tensions and a shift in power. He expressed concern that the US decision not to immediately recognize the position is based on political grounds rather than positive norms. Hakobyan concluded by suggesting that Russia may resort to a last trick to destabilize the situation in Armenia.
