The National Committee for Higher Education and Science, led by the Government of the Republic of Armenia, has introduced a draft decision that aims to offer scholarships to foreign students studying in higher education institutions in the country. The scholarship will be available to foreign citizens who are currently studying or planning to study in recognized educational programs focused on health or technical fields of high quality. The scholarship amount will be a minimum of 50% of the tuition fee. In the event that the student does not return to Armenia or fulfill the agreed-upon educational requirements for a minimum of 3 years after completing their studies, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport of the Republic of Armenia will cover the remaining tuition fee from the government budget. The labor market will be involved in monitoring the program’s implementation using new and competitive criteria. Proposals regarding the draft decision, titled “On Approval of the Procedure for Granting Scholarships for Foreign Citizens Studying in Higher Education Institutions of the Republic of Armenia with the Aim of Providing Financial Support for Education,” can be submitted until July 12, 2024, through the official website of Legislative Draft Project(s) at https://www.e-draft.am/projects/7381 or sent to the High-Level Education and Science Committee (Orbeli Brothers 22, email: [email protected]).
