“UAE President Congratulates Kurban Bayram Pilgrims and Frees Thousands of Prisoners in Heartwarming Gesture”

Arabic Emirates President Sheikh Mohamad bin Zayed Al Nahyan has extended his congratulations to over 1,000 Kurban Bayram (Eid al-Fitr) pilgrims. These pilgrims arrived in the country on June 16, 2024, and stayed for three days. This message of congratulations was shared through the official news agency WAM. In addition to this, the president has also ordered the release of 1,138 prisoners from various correctional facilities.

The report further reveals that Sheikh Zayed has made a commitment to cover the financial obligations of these prisoners during his time as the ruler. The leaders of Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ras al-Khaimah, Fujairah, and Sharjah have also extended their greetings and well wishes to the prisoners in their respective emirates. In total, 223 individuals were released in Abu Dhabi, 686 in Dubai, 481 in Ras al-Khaimah, 94 in Fujairah, and 352 in Sharjah. The overall number of released prisoners amounts to 2,974.

Kurban Bayram not only signifies the release of the prisoners but also represents their newfound freedom from the jurisdiction of the UAE authorities. This occasion holds great religious significance as it commemorates the sacrifice of Ismail, who was willing to sacrifice himself, and the divine signal from Ibrahim that called for this sacrifice. It is a key event in Islam, associated with the conclusion of Hajj and marked by the execution sentence on the 10th of Dul-Hijja.
