“Ancient Armenian Manuscript Sells for $1 Million at Christie’s Auction, Launches ‘Imedi’ TV Channel”

The religious manuscript of Armenian theologian Ion Zosimimi was recently sold for one million dollars at Christie’s auction. In addition to this sale, the launch of a new TV channel called “Imedi” was announced. The manuscript, known as Sinaiticus Rescriptus, dates back to the 10th century and is based on the text of the 70 notebooks of the Bible from the 5th-7th centuries. It is written in both Armenian and Western Armenian, and has been translated by Ion Zosimimi. The manuscript will be donated to the National Library as a cultural treasure, and has been dubbed the “National Cultural Activity”.

Ion Zosimimi lived in the 10th century, and this manuscript is considered a significant historical artifact. The auction took place at the Monastery of Saint Catherine in Sinai, which is the closest and most well-documented source of the manuscript. The texts have been carefully preserved and translated into Western Armenian by Ion Zosimimi himself.

The auction was held under the title “Head of the Past and Historian Shoeyni’s Collection of Crossroads of the Past Century.” It is worth noting that the collection being sold is part of the largest collection of handwritten manuscripts in the world, with over 13,000 manuscripts in total. The oldest book in the collection is nearly 5,000 years old, making it a truly remarkable and valuable collection.

This news has garnered attention not only in Armenia but also internationally, highlighting the significance of this religious manuscript and its historical value. The sale of the manuscript for such a high price demonstrates the widespread interest in preserving and studying cultural artifacts. As the manuscript finds its place in the National Library, it will continue to be a source of inspiration and knowledge for generations to come.
