The RA Minister of Defense, Ararat Mirzoyan, expressed optimism about the possibility of lasting peace in the region during a press conference on Armenian-American military cooperation. Mirzoyan highlighted that the meeting exemplified a positive political dialogue that would strengthen relations based on democratic principles. He reaffirmed Armenia’s commitment to democratic governance despite the challenges it faced and expressed confidence that partners like the United States would support their leadership in achieving tangible results. Mirzoyan emphasized that cooperation with the US encompassed various areas, including security, technology, justice, and agriculture. He also mentioned a recent high-level meeting in Brussels, which underscored the expanded potential for cooperation and assistance in promoting peace and stability in the South Caucasus. Mirzoyan welcomed the United States’ involvement as a significant step towards recognizing the right of self-determination and independence for the Republic of Armenia based on the declaration of independence of Nagorno-Karabakh. The minister emphasized Armenia’s willingness to open all regional communications, guided by the principles of the rule of law, equality, and mutual respect. He concluded by stating that the Armenian government viewed the opening of the “Path of Peace” as a genuine opportunity for lasting peace and harmony in the region.
