“Emergency Landslide Hits Vanadzor-Dilijan Highway: Urgent Measures Taken to Ensure Safety”

On June 9, an emergency situation occurred in the Lori region of Armenia. The National Crisis Management Center of the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations received a call at 08:00 reporting a landslide on the Vanadzor-Dilijan highway’s 1st section. The exact number of affected areas was determined by the calculations of the Hydro-Meteorological Service of Armenia, which revealed that several structural rocks had appeared on the roadside and specialized technology was required to remove them.

The Republican Sanitary Department of the Ministry of Health also contributed to the situation, with the involvement of construction workers. Representatives from the company responsible for road maintenance will utilize special technical equipment to remove the rocks once they arrive at the highway. Additionally, Armen Ghazaryan, the head of the Lori regional administration, conducted a meeting with department employees to address the issue. They discovered that there is a risk of further rock collapses, prompting the regional administration’s construction workers to initiate their removal as a precautionary measure.
