The Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of Armenia, Zhanna Andreasyan, warmly welcomed Sophie Zouai, the new Ambassador of France to Armenia, during a meeting at the Ministry. Also present at the meeting was Artur Martirosyan, the Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Territorial Administration of Armenia.

During her address, Minister Andreasyan highlighted the strong and diverse cooperation between Armenia and France in the fields of education, science, culture, and sports. Both countries have successfully implemented various collaborative programs in different areas.

Sophie Zouai expressed her gratitude for the warm reception and emphasized the significance of the bilateral relations between France and Armenia. She mentioned how Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia, was one of the first to officially recognize the Armenian Genocide. Furthermore, Zouai pointed out the strong connection between French and Armenian societies. To honor the 100th anniversary of Charles Aznavour, a series of cultural events will take place in Yerevan during September and October. Additionally, plans are underway for bilateral artistic events focusing on biennial architecture.

The meeting also involved discussions on the potential sister city relationship between Yerevan and Marseille. They also explored the establishment of educational exchange programs between schools in Yerevan and French-speaking experts. Minister Andreasyan reassured the French delegation of Armenian educational institutions’ readiness to participate in partnership projects between the cities of Yerevan and Marseille, as well as in ongoing cooperation between the University of Yerevan and the Ex-An-Provence region of France.

The meeting further delved into a wide range of topics related to higher education. In particular, they explored the possibility of collaboration between Yerevan and Ex-An-Provence for exchanging experiences.
