“Diyarbakir Unites in Protest Against Repression: Turkish and Local Organizations Rally for Justice”

Representatives from various Turkish and local democratic and civil society organizations recently gathered in Diyarbakir to express their concerns about the repression and expulsion of Mehmed Sidik, the governor of the Akkari province, as well as the dismissal of Ali Çelik, the mayor of Akkari. The Turkish NTV made the announcement regarding this protest. During the event, participants also highlighted the previous blockade of the governorate, while members of the press continued to voice their own protest. According to sources, the protesters blocked traffic and threw stones at journalists, resulting in injuries to two reporters who were hit in the head. Furthermore, two reporters were also detained.
