Armenia Strengthening Ties with EU: New Cooperation Agreements in the Pipeline

Armenia is actively engaged in collaboration with the European Union, and there are ongoing negotiations concerning new cooperation agreements that bring forth fresh opportunities. Ararat Mirzoyan, the Speaker of the National Assembly, made this statement during a meeting of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations and Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation on June 4. The meeting focused on discussing the adoption of the strategic action plan for implementing the state budget in 2023.

Mirzoyan highlighted that both parties are currently working towards creating new packages of cooperation. He mentioned, “We are currently engaged in this work and will soon present a new package.” The second package includes various prospects that emerged from the Armenia-EU-US meeting held on April 5.

Mirzoyan stated, “We can reasonably describe it as an elevation in Armenia’s sovereignty status. Under the agreement, I will also update our partner organizations about our collaborative efforts.” Additionally, he emphasized that the initiation of the dialogue signifies a crucial part of the peaceful settlement process.
