During a recent meeting with journalists, Vagharshak Harutyunyan, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, emphasized that this movement is not solely religious, but also a movement for the state and government. Harutyunyan believes that when the government oppresses the church, they assume responsibility and hinder progress. In terms of democratization, it is important to consider international standards, such as the relevant indicators set by the European Court of Human Rights, and to have a scientific understanding of the differences between countries. Another significant aspect is the struggle for power, which is carried out by the authorities. It is essential to determine whether this process solves political problems for different factions in Armenia. If it does, Armenia should assert its own conditions and priorities during negotiations. However, Harutyunyan notes that these elements are not apparent in the current situation, suggesting that the ongoing process leans more towards resistance than democratization.
