“Residents of Yerevan Poisoned After Swimming in Lake Sevan Face Consequences: Pollution and Low Visibility Cause Discomfort”

Yesterday, residents of Yerevan fell ill after swimming in Lake Sevan and today they are experiencing the consequences. The water in the lake is heavily polluted and visibility is poor, causing discomfort for swimmers. The incident caught the attention of several authorities including the head of the RA MES Rescue Service, General-Major Karen Chilingaryan, Colonel Karen Chilingaryan, Chief of the Rescue Service, and Captain Yegor Karapetyan, head of the Health Department of the Rescue Service. Independent activists and entrepreneurs are also assisting with search and rescue operations. It was reported yesterday that swimmers and employees of the Sevan special water rescue team were involved in activities related to the lake in the morning, and there are concerns that a missing 25-year-old may have drowned.
