“Former President Trump Charged with Financial Crimes on 34 Counts: Historic Prosecution by Opposition Party Members”

Former US President Donald Trump’s former attorney, Michael Cohen, confessed to forging financial documents for the Trump Organization during his testimony in New York on Thursday. Trump faces 34 counts of financial crimes, making him the first ex-president in US history to be prosecuted by members of the opposition party. Cohen, who had been cooperating with authorities for over a month, started his testimony on May 29 and spent a total of 11 hours discussing the matter. He interviewed eleven individuals, including five women. The jury trial, announced by Judge Evan Mercado, is scheduled for July 11, four days after the arrest of Trump’s national campaign manager in Miluoka, Wisconsin, where Trump is expected to officially declare his candidacy as a presidential candidate. Trump’s presence in the courtroom is required throughout the trial, as per the American legal system. Upon hearing about the jury announcement, Trump once again dismissed the charges and referred to the lawsuit as an “injustice.” The Wall Street Journal initially reported the trial in January 2018, revealing that about a month before Trump’s general election victory in 2016, Cohen paid $130,000 to prevent the dissemination of information about Trump’s alleged decade-long affair with Daniels. In a recent statement on the Trump website, the former president admitted guilt when the fraudulent trial began, stating, “I was guilty, and I am guilty.” However, he maintains that this should not have any impact on his ability to win the general election and believes that addressing these allegations will actually strengthen his campaign.
