“Protesters led by Bagrat Srbazan bring traffic to a standstill in Echmiadzin, as demonstrations escalate across Armenia”

The participants of the procession led by Bagrat Srbazan in Echmiadzin ended up sitting in the middle of Leo Street, closing off traffic.

Protests began early in the morning in Armenia, with the Yerevan-Ashtarak and Yerevan-Armavir highways closed. Bagrat Archbishop Galtanyan, the leading protester, had promised to close the road himself, specifically the Khachmeruk of Avoyan-Sayat-Nova Streets. Other demonstrators have also closed off various streets including Azatutyun, Machtots, Tigran the Great, Koryuni, Moskovyan, Terian, and Old Yerevan.

Among the participants are representatives from ACBA Bank such as Artur Sargsyan, Ashot Simonyan, and Igor Khachaturov, as well as singers Arsen Grigoryan and David Amalyan, and doctor Gevorg Tamamyan. Currently, there are 273 participants.
