“67 Arrested in Yerevan Protests: Streets Closed and Clashes with Police”

According to the RA Ministry of Justice, a total of 67 participants in the anti-government protests in Yerevan have been detained. The Ministry stated that these detentions were made under Article 182 of the Criminal Code, which deals with administrative violations. The demonstrations began early in the morning and have resulted in the closure of major highways, including Yerevan-Ashnak and Yerevan-Armavir. One of the prominent protest leaders, Bagrat Galstyan, has also taken part and closed off a road.

Additionally, protesters have blocked several streets in the capital, including Azatutyan, Mashtots, Tigran Mests, Koryuni, Moskovyan, Terian, and Khin Yerevantsi streets. The situation in certain areas of the city is tense, as clashes have erupted between the police and protesters. Among the citizens involved in the protests is Arthur Sarkisyan, a member of the AHC committee.

During a rally on Republic Square, the head of the AHC Committee, Bagrat Srapyan, stated that only the Lori and Tavush roads should remain open. He emphasized that the protesters should not engage in any other activities as they are already free from work. Srapyan held the protesters responsible for their presence, reminding them that they were being paid by the people and questioning why they had not fulfilled their duty.
