“Former Employees of National Institute of Metrology Arrested for Embezzling Millions in Government Funds”

A group of former employees of the “National Institute of Metrology” CJSC, between 2010 and 2018, colluded with each other and signed various contracts with 27 employees. They engaged in fraudulent activities by creating and submitting false documents, such as fake working hour records, to avoid their work responsibilities. By doing so, they unlawfully embezzled a considerable amount of money from the government budget.

On August 11, 2020, criminal proceedings were initiated against these individuals under Article 179, Part 3, paragraph 1 (falsification or damage) and Article 325, Part 2 (forgery of documents, stamps, seals, or forms) of the Criminal Code. These articles were enacted on April 18, 2003.

Following the legal actions, the former employees, including the former directors E.Ch. and V.S., were arrested on May 20, 2024. It is vital to note that during the arrest, the state seized a total of 51,227,000 Armenian drams. The investigation is currently ongoing to uncover further details and bring justice in this case.
