On May 18, an employee of the Packaging Division of Kapan Copper Smelting Plant reported that the warehouse had been burglarized from May 17, 16:00 to May 18, 8:00. Approximately 56 boxes of copper sheets, weighing around 425 kg in total, had been stolen from the plant’s production facility located within the company’s territory.

According to NEWS.am, employees of the Packaging Division revealed that the theft was committed by a 35-year-old resident of Kajaran. The suspect had used his “Ford” van to transport the stolen copper sheets and sold them to another resident of the same village.

The Kajaran resident has been identified as the main suspect in the burglary and has been arrested. It has also been discovered that he had previously been involved in another burglary. On May 18, he acquired 400 kg of stolen copper sheets by paying 1,100,000 drams.

The stolen copper sheets have been completely recovered and the relevant documents have been forwarded to the Syunik Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
